WHO CAN JOIN THE ORDINARIATE?
Because the Ordinariate is part of the Catholic Church, anyone is welcome to worship or make their spiritual home with us. Fellow Catholics who make their communion during our masses will fulfil their mass obligations.
The reason that the Ordinariate is called ‘Personal’ is because canonical membership is obtained through personal application from those who fall into certain categories decreed by the Holy Father.
The categories are as follows: –
1 Baptised members of any Anglican, Methodist (not Uniting Church) or Charismatic Episcopalian Churches
2 Catholics who are former members of the churches listed above
3 Catholics married or closely related to a member of the Ordinariate
4 Anyone, including baptised but not confirmed, Catholics who complete the Catholic Rites of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Reconciliation) through the ministry of the Ordinariate
If you are considering becoming Catholic and would like to know more about the distinctive English expression of that faith practised in the Ordinariate of Our Lady of the Southern Cross, please contact your nearest Ordinariate congregation. (Jerome – link to Congregations page)
If you live in an area where there is no congregation nearby but would still like to apply for membership or have any other questions, please contact the Ordinariate office. (Jerome – link to contact for the office)
If you are not eligible for canonical membership but would like to be an official supporter of the Ordinariate, please complete a Supporters form and return it to the Ordinariate office. You will then be added to our mailing list for you to receive info etc. (Jerome, link to Supporters Form)
Thank you for visiting our website and may God bless you and may Our Lady of the Southern Cross pray for you.
